Responsible Sourcing

The objective of our sustainability initiatives is to align our suppliers with our Sustainability Vision, fostering collaboration toward our shared goal of Sustainable Procurement and decarbonization.

Driving Supplier Engagement for Sustainable Procurement

As part of our EcoElevate: Suppliers’ Chapter program, we assessed and trained over 200+ suppliers—representing ~44% of our spend—on Environment, Social and Governance(ESG) parameters. Our training covered essential ESG topics, including the rise of sustainability and ESG, drivers of a sustainable value chain, and expectations from supply chain partners. Suppliers with lower ESG scores received targeted support, resulting in an average improvement of 111% in their ESG ratings, transitioning them from high-risk to low-risk categories.

We have launched our supplier decarbonization program for suppliers covering 82% of our Scope 3 emissions, aiming to meet our Science-Based Targets (SBT). Phase I involved assessing suppliers’ SBT commitment status and understanding barriers to their commitment. In the next phase, we will provide these suppliers with the tools and support needed to create and execute impactful decarbonization plans.

Building a Culture of Responsible Sourcing

At Syngene, we believe that sustainability starts from within. As part of our commitment to responsible business practices, we introduced EcoElevate: Employees’ Chapter—a dedicated initiative to equip our Strategic Sourcing team with in-depth Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) knowledge. Through this program, we have successfully trained 100+ employees, ensuring they have the expertise to integrate sustainable procurement principles into daily decision-making.

Training Focus Areas:

  • Understanding ESG and Sustainability
  • Syngene’s ESG Strategy and Key Milestones
  • Pathway to Decarbonization
  • Roles and Responsibilities of Buyers in Driving Sustainability

Fostering a Diverse and Resilient Supply Chain

Reinforcing our commitment to fostering fair opportunities for small and diverse businesses, promoting growth, and building an inclusive supply chain, we formalized our supplier diversity policy. This policy will ensure that more concerted efforts will be made to actively seek and engage qualified diverse suppliers who meet our standards for quality, performance, and competitiveness.

Syngene joins a global network of responsible suppliers

Syngene is now a proud PSCI ‘Supplier Partner’, reinforcing our commitment to building a responsible and sustainable supply chain in collaboration with our customers. The PSCI (Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative) is the leading association for pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. Through there three modes of impact – Audit, Capability and Projects – they work as one voice to deliver responsible value chains.

Supplier partnership with PSCI put us in the likes of other global CDMOs such as Wuxi, Samsung Biologics and Lonza. Our PSCI membership strengthens Syngene’s position as a trusted partner in our customers’ responsible sourcing journey. It also reflects our commitment to the five key PSCI principles — Ethics, Human Rights, Health & Safety, Environmental Stewardship, and Governance — ensuring we uphold the highest standards across our operations.
