As part of our supplier engagement program EcoElevate: Suppliers’ Chapter, 200+ suppliers, covering ~44% of our spend, were upskilled and assessed on ESG. Low-scoring suppliers (14 in number) received continuous improvement support, leading to an average 111% increase in their ESG scores, shifting them from high risk to low risk.

We also launched a decarbonization initiative with 82% of our high-emitting suppliers, aligning with our Scope 3 science-based targets. A baseline survey assessed their current progress and support needs, with 26% already committed to science-based targets. The next phase will focus on equipping suppliers with resources to develop decarbonization strategies.
Building a Culture of Responsible Sourcing
At Syngene, we believe that sustainability starts from within. As part of our commitment to responsible business practices, we introduced EcoElevate: Employees’ Chapter—a dedicated initiative to equip our Strategic Sourcing team with in-depth Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) knowledge. Through this program, we have successfully trained 100+ employees, ensuring they have the expertise to integrate sustainable procurement principles into daily decision-making.

This policy will ensure that more concerted efforts will be made to actively seek and engage qualified diverse suppliers who meet our standards for quality, performance, and competitiveness.

Syngene is now a proud PSCI ‘Supplier Partner’, reinforcing our commitment to building a responsible and sustainable supply chain in collaboration with our customers. The PSCI (Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative) is the leading association for pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. Through there three modes of impact – Audit, Capability and Projects – they work as one voice to deliver responsible value chains.
Supplier partnership with PSCI put us in the likes of other global CDMOs such as Wuxi, Samsung Biologics and Lonza. Our PSCI membership strengthens Syngene’s position as a trusted partner in our customers’ responsible sourcing journey. It also reflects our commitment to the five key PSCI principles — Ethics, Human Rights, Health & Safety, Environmental Stewardship, and Governance — ensuring we uphold the highest standards across our operations.
