Syngene works to strengthen public healthcare systems and improve access to quality healthcare for underserved communities through health promotion, early intervention, preventive care, and effective management of non-communicable diseases.

eLAJ Smart Clinics

During FY26, 11 eLAJ Smart Clinics managed by the Biocon Foundation, provided primary healthcare services to underserved communities. eLAJ 2.0, an ABDM-compliant electronic medical record platform, is currently under proof of concept and is intended to further strengthen continuity of care.  

FY26 Program Highlights 

  • 46,753 beneficiaries reached 
  • 42,275 laboratory tests conducted 
  • 4,107 specialist clinic visits 
  • 8,628 individuals screened for non-communicable diseases using the Community-Based Assessment Checklist (CBAC) 

The eLAJ Smart Clinics programme has undergone a third-party impact assessment which provides an independent perspective on the programme’s reach, outcomes and impact, and highlights key learnings and opportunities for further strengthening the initiative.

Community Outreach

Syngene’s community outreach in partnership with the Biocon Foundation aim to deliver preventive and primary healthcare services directly to homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods, reaching groups including daily-wage workers, small-factory employees, women’s collectives, and school-going adolescents.  

During FY26: 

  • 3,130 individuals were screened for diabetes, hypertension, and anemia 
  • 63 non-communicable disease camps were conducted 
  • Approximately 3,000 ECG screenings were completed through AI-enabled cardiac surveillance initiative 
  • 2,939 students participated in health education programs 
  • 2,698 breast examinations were conducted 
  • 3,337 individuals were screened for oral cancer 

General health camps conducted across 22 schools screened 2,659 students for nutrition, oral health, vision, and overall well-being, enabling referral and follow-up support where required.  

Rural Preventive Healthcare Program

In Shamirpet, near Genome Valley, Hyderabad, preventive healthcare services combined digital profiling, community surveys, medical camps, diagnostic support, medicines, counseling, and referral facilitation. During FY26, the program reached more than 4,800 individuals through household surveys and conducted 16 medical camps serving more than 1,200 patients.

CHAMPS

The Child Health Activists Mentoring and Promoting Health in Society (CHAMPS) program empowers students to become health advocates within their communities. During FY26, 100 students were trained and they collectively screened 1,208 adults across 18 camps. The program identified 323 individuals with elevated blood pressure, all of whom were referred for further evaluation.

Mobile Medical Dispensary Project

In Mayurbhanj, Odisha, mobile medical dispensaries delivered last-mile healthcare through 91 camps, reaching approximately 16,900 people during FY26.
