Anganwadi centres (AWCs)

In a study conducted by NITI Aayog in 2015, it was revealed that 41% of the Anganwadi Centers in India had either a shortage of space or unsuitable accommodation. With the belief that improving infrastructure and providing safe, healthy conditions for quality pre-school and school education will increase participation in schools, this program funded the construction of two model AWCs in Maravooru and Kalavar and additionally refurbished 14 AWCs in Dakshina Kannada.

600 children under six years of age are benefiting from the infrastructure upgrades of 16 AWCs in Dakshina Kannada.

The AWCs were equipped with facilities such as portable water units, outdoor playing equipment and toys to promote a positive and healthy environment to encourage continuity in education.
